A not so new roofing school has been getting a lot of attention lately… Roofing Insights is a roofing school located just north of the Twin Cities in Brooklyn Park. That makes it just a short drive from our offices!

Roofing Insights has grown to become one of our close partners because we see a lot of value in the things they offer to the roofing community and educational tools. We’re all about offering value to the construction and contracting industry! With 70+ five-star reviews, there aren’t many bad things that people have to say about this organization, but we thought it’d be good to talk about the pros and cons of attending a roofing business school like this one.

Let’s dive in!

What is a Roofing Business School

A roofing business school is not a traditional school in the way that you might think. No, this is a school that doesn’t offer a degree but offers you real-life advice and tools to handle your business better. Some of the things you’ll learn in a roofing business class include:

  • Accounting for your roofing company
  • How to market your roofing services
  • How to schedule and conduct follow-ups
  • Sales tips for your roofing company
  • Software that works well for roofing contractors
  • And so much more!

Dimitry of Roofing Insights also offers you two more tools when you graduate from the roofing insights, roofing business school. These two things are access to his team when you have questions and access to him if you need advice. You’ll also get to apply to the Roofing Insights Directly. This directory is a quickly growing resource for homeowners where only the best roofers are displayed for homeowners to see.

Pros and Cons of Roofing Business Schools

There are obviously many advantages to taking some courses on running your roofing business, especially if you’re just getting started and aren’t quite sure how to do things. But, there are also many reasons you should or maybe shouldn’t consider attending a roofing business school.

Pros of Roofing Business School

Here are some of the pros of attending a roofing business school, such as Roofing Insights with Dimitry.

Get Ahead of Your Competition

One of the biggest advantages of attending a roofing business school is that you’ll have a competitive edge over your competition. If you’re getting into the roofing industry, you might have worked as a roofer yourself in the past but maybe don’t have as much experience running things in an office. Taking some time to do your homework and set a foundation for your company will put you miles ahead of your competition in the long run.

Learn the Tricks of the Trade

It can take a few years to learn the dos and don’ts of roofing. There’s a lot that goes into running a roofing company, and you must know what you’re doing no matter what it is that you are doing. Dimitry at the Roofing Insights School is practically the Garvy Vee of Roofing! That means he’s been there and done it, and he’s learned quite a few tricks along the way.

Be Ready to Install All Types of Products

As you probably already know, there’s a number of roofing products. A roofing business school will be able to do more than teach you the business side of things. You can also learn some of the best products and the best ways to install these products. That means you’ll get value beyond just how to handle customers and bid jobs.

Cons of Roofing Business School

The cons of roofing school are few and far beyond. If you don’t have the time to invest in it, that could be seen as a con but gaining knowledge and growing in your craft is something that everyone should be striving for. Here’s what some of the roofers said when we interviewed them.

Change Out The Sweaters

One roofer said that one of the things he’d like to see Dimitry change is the sweaters that he wears. While it might not be a traditional con, we’ll be sure to let Dimitry know that there are a few roofers out there that would like to see it mixed up occasionally.

Availability for One on One’s

One of the other main drawbacks that some of the Roofing Insights students have is that Dimitry doesn’t always have a lot of time. While Dimitry does offer one on one’s and will help to personally coach any of his students, he’s a busy guy and isn’t as available as some might like him to be.

Updates to Video Content

One side of the roofing school is listening to seminars and talking with Dimitry and his team. But, a whole other side is watching the video content that he’s produced for the school. While everyone does agree that those videos are great and useful, some think that they could use more consistent updates.

We’d encourage everyone to do whatever they can to learn and grow in their craft. It’s essential for the future of your business and the continued growth of your professional career. If you’re looking for a great roofing school that you can trust to provide loads of value. Check out Roofing Insights right here in Minnesota. You can also expect classes throughout other places in the country and sessions at conferences and expos. But you can take the course anytime online as well.
