Hook Agency is my baby!
And I can’t wait to continue help build this to a 40M business one day that gives 100k+ to charity every year, and helps get the word out about all the opportunities in the trades.
Our story is proof that in every adversity – lies opportunity. Here’s our story in a nutshell:
From Texas rock band, to risky new web design business
After a life-changing personal transformation following a 4-year stint in Texas and in a rock band, I moved back to Minnesota and started school for Website design.
- I joined an agency out of college, and while designing beautiful websites for them, learned SEO from the best – and they promoted me to marketing manager, and I doubled their leads in 9 months.
- When I took a wild risk and went out on my own, I shared a 500 square foot office with another freelancer.
- I was high on entrepreneurship, and invited my wife to work with me – we did 360k that first full year together, and started hiring.
When Covid hit, a niche Youtuber helped blow us up
Man – we didn’t really know what we were getting into, and the first employee quit after his first year – we were gonna need to learn how to create a real culture.
As we plastered ‘Champion The Underdog’ on shirts, and painted on the wall of our new office in 2020, Covid hit.
I was on vacation in Mexico, and the anxiety was mixed with extreme hopefulness as Dmitry Lipinskiy of popular @RoofingInsights youtube channel shared our company, after seeing work we’ve done for his local competitors.
We stopped taking other types of clients, and that has made all the difference
A year later we had so much momentum with roofing and home services, we stopped providing services to anyone outside that niche. This was massive for unlocking our power for our clients, because our specialization is making us more and more powerful.
Our 28 person Google specialized team keeps getting better on these types of clients because every client we work on is making us better with every other client we work on.
Nice to meet you!
And thank you for reading a quick version of the Hook Agency story!
