Force Google Re-crawl

How do you get Google to re-crawl a page quickly?

Sometimes you need a quick re-crawl of your page, because of significant changes, or you’re testing a strategy.

Unfortunately – Google tucked this away a bit in Search Console, but it’s still available if you know where to look, here’s how you do it.

1. Open Google Search Console and press ‘Go to the old version’ in the bottom left.

2. Choose ‘Crawl’ and then ‘Fetch as Google.’

3. Enter the URL you want re-crawled and press ‘Request Indexing’.

Boom – you’re page should be re-crawled in the next 10min- to a couple hours.

[00:00] Hey how’s it going? It’s Tim Brown and I’m here with another episode of Google Likes It. And I know that you’ve missed me and I know that you’ve been thinking about how do I get more Google traffic and I have got your fix today and this is the one that we’ve been using regularly when we make big updates to a new page. So how do you get Google to re-crawl your page right away or in the next couple of hours? And it’s easy as this. If you have Google search console set up, if you don’t you should, it’s amazing, go to the old version, it’s on the bottom left, there’s a little link that says go to the old version, click go to the old version and under crawl, so twirl down crawl and press fetch as Google and it will come up with a little box that allows you to put the link that you want Google to re-crawl in there.

[01:01] So, if it’s the homepage, just press fetch as Google and then press request index and if it’s another page, just copy and paste the end of the link, not the .com and paste it in the little box and press fetch as Google and wait about 10 seconds and then press request indexing. So it’s as easy as that and I hope that you guys who are antsy to have Google re-crawl your pages, get a little use out this and I hope that you have an amazing day. All right. Bye.
