Is business slow? It can be easy to fall into the rut of waiting for people to find you and being okay with a slow day. But if you want to get beyond comfortable and start to really grow your business then you’re going to want to build out your toolset for lead generation.

Today we’re breaking down the tools you’re going to need to produce profitable leads daily. There are a lot of different ways to engage with your customers let’s investigate what’s hot in 2020 and how you can be ahead of your competition.

The Best Data Collection Tools

First things first. Data collection. Wherever you’re at in the life of your business you’re going to need some form of data collection. By collecting data you’re able to see and know what customers are doing online. This gives you an advantage and head start into making changes to your site and customer experience. So that you can have the smoothest experience available every time.

1 Mixpanel is a great tool to use for analyzing data throughout your website or mobile app. This tool is incredibly robust and breaks everything down into easy to understand data points. One of the best parts about this program is that it’s free for up to 25,000 data points per month. That means that this can be a great tool for small businesses that don’t have a lot of money to dump into their lead generation tools.

2 Google Analytics and Google Search Console. These two services work together and separately to create some pretty intense analytic tools. If you’ve not worked with either of these then I would suggest doing some reading and watching some videos to help you get the hang of it.

For those of you that might be experts with these two tools then here are a two different things that I think everyone should be taking advantage of and optimizing.

  1. Crawl Budget – this a great concept for small and big businesses that are growing and expanding their site on the daily. Google has a specific number of page crawls that it will make on your site in one day. For some sites that can be as many as 60,000 or as low as 6,000. You might be wondering why this matters. It matters because if your site has over 100,000 pages or page extensions it could take months and months just for google to work through what you already have. The best way to fix this is by establishing URL parameters for your site. This can take some time but it is so worth it if you’re looking to make your site more effective.
  2. My second tip for the accomplished Googler is to use goal flow charts in Google Analytics. As a small business it’s easy to get caught up in page views and time on site without ever digging into things that matter, conversion rates. Set goals for different conversion rates throughout your site and then give them a monetary value so that you can assess the business you’re gaining and the business you’re losing. It’s impossible to gauge how much money you’re losing on every lost lead that exits the funnel. Dig into this a little bit and I think you’ll be really happy you did.

Email Collection and Form Tools

Forms and email lists can be a great way to get people involved in what you’re doing and can be a great way to establish some big leads. There are quite a few tools out there to help you manage them but before we do that, let’s talk about form abandonment.

Form Abandonment Tools

On average a form conversion rate is roughly 21.5%. This isn’t bad, but it is when we see that on average 61% of users will abandon a form if there is any type of complication and only 20% will follow up with the company in some way. The worst part about it is that most businesses don’t use the tools to see why or when people abandon the form.

3 Formisimo is a tool built for just this. With the use of 54 individual metrics this tool can break down the different parts of your form that are causing users to leave it unfilled.

Email Collection and Management is extremely important as well. There are a few different ways you can build these lists such as pop up windows, landing pages, or footers. Here are some of the best tools to use.

4 OptinMonster is a plugin that you can use to develop popup forms for your website. These forms look great and are a really clean way to get email addresses. The best part about OptinMonster is that their service integrates with some high-quality CRM’s like Mail Chimp and Campaign Monitor.

5 LinkedIn Plus this is a great tool for publishing content and sharing what you do. At Hook Agency we’re always using LinkedIn Plus to share with our audiences. One great thing you can do to optimize your email list is to leave your email sign up at the end of your blog post or article to help get your audience engaged.

Social Media Analysis

Social media has become essential for businesses over the past 5 years. A lot of businesses do a great job and a lot of businesses don’t, but the question really is, do you know why you are or are not doing well? There aren’t a lot of brands and companies out there talking about what they do to grow their following or how they use analytics to help them. Here’s a couple of useful tools so that you can get more leads from social media.

6 BuzzSumo is a social media analysis tool that helps you understand and know what content is resonating with your audiences. This tool is perfect for helping you watch the right trends within your audience. Social media experts and content producers including small business will really benefit from this, so they know where to put their attention.

7 AgoraPulse this tool is great for the very organized social media manager that allows you to manage, schedule, and post across all of your platforms at one time. This is a great product to check out if you’re looking to optimize your time.

400;”>Lead generation is no easy task in today’s world, and it takes a lot of hard work. The key is not to get frustrated but instead to keep at it and find the right tools that will help you dive into lead generation throughout a lot of the things your business is already doing.
