Front Load - Keyword Title Tag - On-page SEO

Your title tag – ends up being the blue text in Google search results… in the list when people Google something, and it’s the most important piece of SEO, but strangely often overlooked because of its simplicity.

Google likes it when you front-load your keyword at the beginning of your title tag

1. Google the search term you think you want to rank for
2. Copy the url of one of the top results
3. Use a keyword tool to find out the top terms its ranking for.

Hey, how’s it going? It’s Tim Brown, and today I’m gonna be talking to you about how Google likes it when you front-load your keyword at the beginning of your title tag. So in SEO, the title tag is one of the most important things.

If you’re not used to hearing a lot about SEO, it’s the blue text when you google and you see it on this list of items and it’s the blue text in those listings, in each of those listings. So why is it important to front-load the keyword that you’re trying to rank for?

So keyword being, hey, this is what I think people are searching. But if it’s, let’s say it’s blue socks. You want blue socks to be at the very beginning of the title. So instead of saying: The ultimate guide to blue socks, you’d say: Blue socks, the ultimate guide. So front-loading is super important. Google takes the beginning text, the first couple two or three words, and those it perceives as the most important part of the title tag.

So, you know you might be asking yourself, hey how do I figure out what words to prioritize. A good way to do this is to google the search term that you think that people will be searching. Number two, look at the top one, two and three spots. Copy the URL, copy the link for one of those top results, and then use a keyword tool like Ahrefs, SEMrush, or others and pop that URL into their website explorer or their site explorer tool and look at what other terms those pages are ranking for.

So by doing this, you are actually, you know, taking a good guess and then figuring out what the sites that are ranking for that guess really have the most search volume. So these keyword tools or these site explorer tools will tell you which terms that that page is ranking for and what the volume is. So for whatever reason you searched this and maybe the top result is actually ranking for blue stockings as well, and I don’t think this will be a real case but that blue socks has 500 people searching it, and blue stocking has like a thousand people searching for it, then you’d front-load blue stockings. And maybe work blue socks later in the title.

So anyways, that’s the way to get started with this. front-load your keyword at the beginning of your title tag. And join us next time for the next episode of Google Likes it. Bye.
