SEO Tools, researching blog titles

Finding the right topic to write about can be difficult. It can be even worse if you’re trying to find the right content to use for a video. It’s easy to get discouraged, though you should try not to let it get you down too much. There’s a lot of content out there, but there’s still a lot of content that needs to be created.

If you’ve felt like you’re in a rut with your content or like you can’t think of any new things to put on your blog, then this is the post for you.

Be sure to share this with your creative team so that they can get inspired too!

We recently shared a short podcast with some of this information. Listen to it here!

1. Google Search

Marketers can really underestimate Google searches. Instead of just looking at analytics, allow yourself to go down the rabbit hole and find what other people are searching for.

An excellent practice to do this well is by watching the dropdown bar on google as you go. Begin searching for something like “kitchen remodel.” Watch as things like “kitchen remodel guides,” and other recommended searches show up. The dropdowns you see are things that people are often searching for or are adding to their searches.

Look for things that interest you or things that would be easy to write on.

2. The Bottom Of The Search Results Page

When you search something on Google at the bottom of the page, you’ll notice a box where it says, “people also search for.” This is an excellent place to look for and find blog and video ideas. All the things in this section are things that people are searching along with the keyword you initially searched.

3. Quora

Quora is a great forum to find out what questions people have when they’re approaching a “kitchen remodel” project. This works for any keyword you want to see.

If you were to search something like, “things to prepare for in kitchen remodels.” Then you look at how people are answering that question and re-write/combine some of those answers into a great blog post. That’s it! A speedy way to put some content together.

Be careful not to copy and paste or steal information. That doesn’t help you at all. Only use this tool to do some research and read up on the blog topic you’ve chosen.

4. Answer The Public

Answerthepublic.com is another way to do a lot of research at one time. With this tool, you type in your question, “how to do a kitchen remodel,” and then it gives you relevant answers. You might find some great tools or topics that you can use as blog posts. Dig into this for research or hand it off to your marketing assistant if they wouldn’t know some simple things.

5. SEM Rush

Sign up for a free account and type your keyword into SEM Rush for ideas and topics. This tool compiles search analytics, so you know what is being searched most often with the keywords you’ve chosen.

Find a topic that gets a solid amount of search engine traffic and then write a blog post around it. This works great to get your website more traffic and exposure while also attracting customers within your niche.

6. Ahrefs.com

Ahrefs is a tool that’s going to help you look for competitors that are writing blog posts. You might find a competitor you know of or even just a more prominent industry website. This can be an excellent resource for finding topics to write on, seeing what other people in the industry are doing, or researching topics for your post.

There’s a $7 trial that you can use on Ahrefs to find blogs that would compete with yours or find a topic to write on.

7. Google Keyword Planner

Google Keyword Planner is a popular tool that can help you find more ways that people are searches and where they are searching from. This can be a great way to see if there is a high number of near me searches. Optimizing to show up higher in those searches is a great way to do well in rankings and get found.

Bonus!

We got done with seven ways and then found another one that also works great! The google search meta box works great to see what other things that people are searching for. Click through these to see some more great post titles based on people’s searches.

Ultimately your goal is to write and produce content that resonates with things that people are already looking for. Anything you do to find what people are searching for is going to be helpful in the long run and lead to great posts that are highly searched for.
