Sometimes you just need a boost in your motivation – this guide, with all of it’s music, audio, and videos – will help you get amped up and push through.
1. Listen to a hype mix of music.
Here’s some of mine I threw together if you’re not feeling motivated enough to make a mix yet. It’s got hip-hop, alternative etc., modify to suit to taste of course:
2. Chug 3 large cups of water quickly. Many of get dehydrated when we’re busy, and being well hydrated definitely affects mood for the positive.
3. Write down your 3 most important larger goals for the week. Having things clarified and on paper is incredibly helpful for busying the mind only with the work at hand.
4. Write down your 3 main smaller – next action step – goals for the day. Choose things that aren’t gigantic, recognize Monday can throw the unexpected at us.
5. Eat a real breakfast. If you tend to grab a bar, on the way at step it up a bit and sit down, it doesn’t have to be something that takes a long time to prepare.
6. Dress in a favorite outfit. Skew comfortable, and stylish to help your unconscious mind have less to worry about, and to amp up your confidence and set the tone for the week.
7. Try to think of a way to make someone else happy today, and implement. Is it bringing in coffee to someone who’s done that for you before? Or telling someone how much you appreciate their hard work? I find that when I’m actually the busiest, thinking about how I can bring some positivity into someone else’s day is one of the most helpful things to my stress levels. Must be the cortisol levels. Speaking of cortisol, pet a dog if one’s around – as this helps with stress levels too. 🙂
8. Wait til 9:30 and pour yourself a big cup of coffee. Why wait til 9:30? – 9:30 is approximately the best time to drink coffee because you’ve already got the morning dose of chemicals your brain naturally secretes to help you wake up. Apparently according to research, if you drink caffeine too earlier it can diminish some of these natural wake-up chemicals.
9. Plan something fun at work. Not everyone has a pool table, or table tennis at work – but you likely have something that is fun for you, whether it’s going out for lunch with a friend or whatever. Make whatever it is for you an important part of your Monday schedule.
10. Get a post-Monday, after work plan that you’ll enjoy. Work-out, if that’s your sort of thing – otherwise get excited to watch the Bachelor or Bachelorette. 🙂 Oops, you caught me.

Here are some of the most inspiring/motivating ideas I’ve come across.
So this week, I’m about to start another week, and I need a little push. I get a good workout in, I connect with some friends, clean the house and am taking a shower and this quote pops into my head:

It really knocks me back a bit, because if we honestly live that way it’s hard to not see how much positive effect that could have on the outcomes of this week. So much of life is about mindset, that’s why I’ve printed out quotes like this to greet me in the morning next to my mirror before:

The idea being, that when something hits me square between the eyes that I need to consider how I’m approaching that difficulty. The wind is there to help me take flight. So this week, I need a little encouragement – I need a mindset shift. To recognize that if some kind of difficulty comes up that it’s the pressure that will really make me what I need to be to survive.

I don’t need to look for trouble, no things always seem to come up. But that’s OK. That last quote is a lot like another couple favorites of mine:

I think I really like these quotes, and they encourage me a ton because I’ve always kind of thought of myself as an underdog. I’m addicted to starting from the bottom so to speak. Because I feel like I have a bit of a complex about my natural abilities, I always feel that I need to work just to even the playing field. As time has gone on, yes I do feel that I’ve gained some success but I try to go at it with a bit of this complex motivating me still. Hard work is everything. My question for myself this week is “Are you going to hustle harder than most, so that you can enjoy the benefits that most won’t get?”

I get pumped up off the idea that some people might underestimate what I can do. It makes my blood flow, and makes me want to work twice as hard as them. Yes, I’m not so important to have a ton of ‘haters,’ but the ones I do have motivate me and spur me to create amazing work to spite them.

I need to remind me of these things every once in awhile so that I don’t get complacent. It’s easy to receive more success than I had previously and want to rest and catch my breath. There’s nothing wrong with doing this intentionally sometimes and enjoying the journey, but I think it’s equally important to get back on my hustle – what better than reviewing some the most encouraging thoughts I’ve come across. Taking a look at encouraging quotes / inspirational quotes every once in awhile to renew my resolve, really hits the spot for me.
The ABC’s of Getting Unstuck Creatively
Sometimes, despite our best efforts we get stuck creatively. To kickstart your brain I’ve prepared a list of ways to get un-stuck – I hope that some will be useful for you. Perhaps pair 2 or 3 together experiment with them to see if it can help break you loose.
A. Ask a question you’re very curious about, and dig up some interesting answers.
B. Break your routine, do things in a new order.
C. Cut out something you thought was crucial.
D. Drink a ton of water. Drink two or three cups in a row.
E. Eat something you deeply enjoy.
F. Finish the project – even in a way that isn’t perfect, and then review.
G. Grant yourself permission to do something risky.
H. Hush your inner critic.
I. Incentivize yourself with a couple small prizes, or a big prize.
J. Joke around or watch something hilarious.
K. Killing an old idea you have about the creative process.
L. Love someone else in a positive physical way, like writing them a note or doing a favor.
M. Meditating – Sit with your back tall and focus your mind solely on breathing.
N. Napping – give the brain a rest and power down for a bit.
O. Offer to help someone else with a creative problem and try to help them.
P. Pull a U-turn – Try to do the exact opposite of the direction your currently pursuing.
Q. Quit – do something else entirely that’s just for fun.
R. Research the subject in a deeper way, relax into the process of learning.
S. Steal something brilliant from something that deeply inspires you
T. Trick yourself into doing it by dividing it into 5 small specific chunks.
U. Understand it doesn’t really matter anyways.
V. Visit with a friend and get a new perspective.
W. Whip out a skill/passion you haven’t messed with in awhile.
X. X-factor – Solve the problem as if it leaving space for the key variable and it will be solved later.
Y. Yes – Say yes to every idea that comes into your head until it’s finished and then subtract.
Z. Zero in on what drives your passion through the roof, write it down.
