Hiring a WordPress Developer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

What Level is This Position?

Hard Skills

Are you a scrappy, get-shit-done WordPress Web Developer?

Do you understand what makes websites attractive to Google from an SEO perspective?

You might just be the type of Developer we’re looking for if you:

  • Can work in code + website page builders efficiently. (We do custom WordPress themes, but have clients that come to us on page builders.)
  • Are skilled at increasing page speed
  • Are familiar with WordPress + common optimizations and plugins
  • Are willing to grow in the areas of technical SEO audits and fixing recommendations
  • Are passionate about learning + improving all facets of SEO
  • We’re looking for someone that loves ongoing WordPress web development and improvements + can get really good at SEO-related dev work on sites.

Stuff you don’t have to do in this role:

  • Write content
  • Design
  • Chase down payment from freelance clients 😜
  • Sell and market your own stuff (we’ve got a really healthy sales pipeline and it’s growing)
  • Ok – no matter who works at Hook, you’re welcome to help us market and sell our services (we love doing videos), but you won’t have to spend the majority of your time there. We love having fun, doing meaningful work and getting our clients (predominantly roofers + contractors) more and better leads. Part of that is technical SEO.

You know what’s fun? Being part of a winning team.
The Hook Agency team is on a roll, and we’d love to have another motivated, passionate professional to join us as a WordPress Web Developer. We’re not in a rush – and we’ll take the time we need to get a great fit for this role.

Here’s the steps to getting started:

  1.  Smash that ‘Apply’ button
  2.  If you’re a fit, a brief intro call
  3. In person interview with potential colleagues
  4. One more interview with the owner + a few more potential teammates
  5.  If it’s a good fit, we’ll extend an offer
  6. Come work with one of the coolest 20 person teams in the Twin Cities

Qualifications

  • Be interested in a development-centric role at a digital marketing agency.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Rapid computer skills within applications like Sublime text (or your preferred code editor), WordPress, basic database skills, DNS (ideally some light photoshop skills but not required.)
  • PHP, CSS, HTML and some Javascript
  • Strong creative thinking skills
  • Being friendly.
  • Ideally, you also like design – as we do a lot of work that is centered around the aesthetics/looks of the website – and these components and the interactive elements of the site need to be good looking and function smoothly.
