Get Started on Google Ads - with your 20 most lucrative search terms

Quick Concepts

Google Ads (formerly Google Adwords) is still a powerful tool – and companies should AT LEAST be bidding on the top lucrative terms for their business – particularly if their products or services are over a thousand bucks. Why not spend .50 – 5 bucks on clicks for HIGH INTENT terms, meaning terms where people are looking for that product or service NOW.

A good way to get started is to – A. Of course set up a Google ads account if you haven’t yet – and start a new campaign (it’s relatively simple, and they guide you.) B. Figure out the top 2 lucrative services that you need leads for, and start targeting those people right when their searching. You can start with exact match searches and then expand outward from there. Enter 10 Exact match Keywords for top Services – with [brackets like this], and then expand outward to ‘Modified Broad Match’ which looks like this Your+Keywords+Here, so the words can be searched in any order – but all still need to be present for your ads to show up.

  • Use Dynamic Keyword Insertion, Example: {KeyWord: Fallback Keyword Here}
  • Write an ad that HOOKS people (use alert words, body parts to call peoples mind to the immediate, and benefit driven language thats focused on THEM – the ideal customer, not you)
  • Use appropriate ad extensions (Phone number, other internal links, your address, etc.)

Common ad extensions might be like Phone Number, Site links to relevant pages, and your address.

By getting started with your top 20 lucrative terms – you can start to see your other advertising efforts in comparison to this, and it’s not my favorite one (I love organic search) but it’s one we should all be doing at least for top terms.
